THE SHAPE OF A WALK, NEW ZEALAND

In 2018 I was the recipient of The Waiheke Art Residency in New Zealand. The three month residency allowed enough time to absorb and take in the gentle unique mood of the island. I used GPS technology to map my place on the Earth, seeing what that shape would look like from the beginning to the end of the walk as a mapped line to create some of the shapes and patterns in the paintings. This was one aspect of the creative process as I also considered multiple viewpoints, peripheral vision and the overall feel of the landscape.

As a result I made a substantial body of work which was exhibited as a solo exhibition at the The Wiaheke Community Art Gallery.
