CHOSEN TERRAIN

Recently my work has made what appears to be a departure from my signature abstracted landscape paintings into a more personal observational approach to Still Life painting.

Collecting elements from the surrounding terrain, I go about assembling, placing and curating these natural objects and aligning them with sea weathered plastics, reflecting the ever changing ecology.

I strive for an alternative beauty, exploring aspects of environmental degradation and the ambiguous relationship we have with plastic as a material.

With the impact of mounting plastic on the environment, I am examining the irony that plastic is made from the natural ingredients of the Earth.”
